Hi friends,

It’s been quite a month, no? One step forward, 49 years back.

This month’s newsletter has gone through a dozen or so iterations the past few days as I debated what to say, or whether to even say anything. I have all sorts of drafts and notes and words on last Friday’s Supreme Court ruling, and at some point I would like to share them. Not because there’s much I could say that hasn’t already been said, rather because this is my space and, at this moment at least, I feel like I need to say them. But to be honest I’m still wading through all of the thoughts and emotions that have come through the floodgates over the last week. It feels a lot like drowning.

So I’ve decided to take a pass this month. I have no recent blog posts to share anyway, and news can wait. What I will say is this:

If you are a woman feeling hurt and scared and pissed off and like a stranger in your own body, you are not alone.

If you are a man feeling hurt and scared and pissed off on behalf of the women in your life, then by all means tell them. My saving grace over the last seven days has been the men who’ve told me, “This is not ok, and I’m so sorry.”

And if you are a person who is either happy about the decision, or perhaps just feels like you don’t have a dog in this fight, I would encourage you to educate yourself about the ramifications of this moment that have absolutely nothing to do with choosing to terminate a pregnancy. They are numerous, and substantial. And I am happy to help you find some great resources on the subject.

I plan to be back next month with some good things to share. In the meantime, take care of yourselves and as always you can write me back.
