Trying a new daily ritual. An old photo found, a new one made, a few syllables written. Making up the rules as I go. Reserving the right to change, edit, alter or altogether abandon.
1.
calm quiet stillness
is the storm ahead? behind?
only time will tell
2.
lone tree in a field
does it hate its bare branches
holding up the sky
3.
between old and new,
dark and light, hope exists, but is
not a soft-edged thing
4.
floating like snowflakes
small seeds on gentle breeze through
ethereal light
5.
sweet memories hang
among pine-scented branches
i'm not yet ready
6.
heavy sky, gray, bright
green needles blue, covered white
winter shows herself
7.
sometimes the words come
easy like a summer day
other times they do not
8.
and sometimes the pain
feels too heavy to carry
even one more step
9.
rain falls, first gently
then steady, but can never
fall hard enough
10.
beauty in chaos
twisting and reaching, blurry
painted by sunlight
11.
the world is darker
than ever; i am grateful
for moments of light
