… is the doorway to a new world.”
- John Muir
I’ve always found these words to be true. For me to walk into the woods is to leave the world as it is, and enter the world as it should be. In some ways it is to be in a place of contradiction: a place that feels both wild and safe; where everything is both new and familiar. Each step in is the answering of a call to go deeper into the unknown, yet brings me closer to the recognition of what lies within. It is a place filled with that which is rooted in this world, and yet at the same time, transcends it.
