When I think about this meadow the photo above is always what first comes to mind. It was taken in late September last year. I’ve always loved it. Mostly I love that it shows, at least a little, what the scale of this incredible spot is. But the expanse of this meadow, the enormity of it, is really hard to translate into a single image.
And when I spend more than a moment contemplating this space I’m reminded of what I really love about it. What I can never get enough of: the details. Within this meadow are countless flowers, ferns, and other plants, amazing lone trees, bugs, critters, deer, and on most days as the sun is rising or setting, the BEST light.
I could spend hours just wandering the trails through it, watching the clouds move or the sun rise. I never tire of stopping to take in every messy tangle of wildflower and long grass.
And I suspect that what may get me through the winter is looking back through these photos until I can get there again.
