The hardest part of moving, without a doubt, has been the friendships; the ones I had to leave, and the ones I wondered if I’d make again. Of course my strongest friendships have endured. I am endlessly lucky to have people in my life who’ve made our friendship a priority, and I will forever be grateful. Our weekly phone calls and hours long FaceTime catch-up sessions have been my sanity at times.
But I’m also very lucky to have already found a couple of friendships here. They’re still budding, in their own springtime so to speak. But much like the buds of spring, their existence gives me hope. A promise of life to come. And it’s a beautiful thing.
The images in this series were all made at the State Botanical Garden here in Athens; inspired by a gift from a friend I was sad to leave, and made with a friend I am so happy to have found.
